Peter Jackson's "Lord of the Rings" trilogy and "Hobbit" movies are epic visual feasts, but there's something equally impressive about watching the action play out in LEGO form.

Here, The Brotherhood Workshop has turned the trailer for the upcoming "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" into a LEGO-filled drama -- a task that apparently took a whopping two months.

Watch their plasticized version and then the real version, if for no other reason than to validate the effort it took to recreate all the CGI-driven sequences with miniature -- and remarkably expressive -- figurines. (Though honestly, it's worth your time because it's pretty cool.)

"The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" arrives in theaters December 13.
