Movie stars are dying? Hardly.
Judging from a Hollywood Reporter earnings report, many actors and actresses are still doing pretty well for themselves -- if $20 million a picture can be called "pretty well."
THR looked at the salaries of 23 A-listers, from movie stars to music giants, and it's no surprise that one of the most wanted women in Hollywood leads the pack. Angelina Jolie still makes $20 million or more for her movies, though she's cut back on the big-budget ones in recent years. Her last two meaty paychecks were for "The Tourist" and "Salt" in 2010. Since then she's done voice work for the "Kung Fu Panda" series, traveled the globe with her six children, and undergone a preventative double mastectomy.
Jolie's partner, Brad Pitt, also brings home quite a lot of bacon, mostly thanks to endorsement deals with Chanel and Cadillac.
Those deals are the sources for many actors' immense earnings; THR reports that George Clooney pocketed $40 million for his Nespresso partnership.
Denzel Washington ("2 Guns") is still part of the $20 million club, as is Leonardo DiCaprio ("The Wolf of Wall Street"), while Daniel Craig may soon gain membership with the next James Bond movie.
And salary isn't even everything; back-end deals can make stars very, very rich. The unexpected hit "Bad Teacher" earned Cameron Diaz a $42 million back-end windfall.
