Christoph Waltz already has an Oscar for playing a vengeful military man ("Inglorious Basterds"), and now he may play another: Waltz is in talks to take the villain role in the "Tarzan" reboot starring Alexander Skarsgard.
Variety reports that Waltz's character would be "a military figure that crosses paths with the King of the Jungle," though it's unclear in what capacity. Not much is known, plot-wise, about the production, which still hasn't received the official greenlight and has undergone several script re-writes.
"Tarzan" is still looking for its Jane, and according to Variety, actresses Emma Stone and Margot Robbie ("Focus") are high on the list of desired candidates. Neither of those women have been approached for the part yet, though director David Yates ("Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows") has taken meetings with several other actresses already.
Producers are hoping to receive the official greenlight by November, and are eying a summer 2014 production start date. Stay tuned for more vine-swinging updates.
