Disney is planning to release a sequel to its smash hit "Alice in Wonderland" on May 27, 2016, according to The Wrap. Johnny Depp will return as the manic Mad Hatter, and Mia Wasikowska will reprise her role as Alice. Director James Bobin ("The Muppets") will take over from Tim Burton.
The sequel likely will be in 3D, modeling after the original, which was a blockbuster success, generating more than $1 billion worldwide.
Disney also announced that it will release "The Jungle Book," the 3D live-action film directed by Jon Favreau, in October 2015.
