Joaquin Phoenix in 'Her'Warner Bros.

Sooooo, you're crushing on the operating system of your phone? Well, you're in questionably good company! The newest trailer for Spike Jonze's "Her" gives us a good look at the difficulties of falling for the warm, understanding, sensual voice inside your pocket computer.

Is Theodore (Joaquin Phoenix) avoiding reality by deciding to "date" Samantha (Scarlett Johansson), a so-called "artificially intelligent operating system"? That's the opinion of his ex-wife (Rooney Mara), who snarks that he's always wanted a wife without all the messy bits. Theodore's best friend Amy (Amy Adams) is much more supportive, noting that "falling in love is kind of like a socially acceptable insanity." (We all need best friends to support our delusions and poor decision-making capabilities, don't we?)

Actually, it doesn't seem that hard at all to fall for Samantha, who is witty and empathetic and, somewhat like the HAL 9000, eager to find out what human things like love are all about. Theodore is happy to show her what it's like, as best he can, by taking her on "dates" to the beach and the fair. Arcade Fire's "Supersymmetry" is the melancholy soundtrack to this trailer, and the band also scored the film. The impossibly cool Karen O also has a song in the movie, which you can listen to here.

"Her" opens in NYC and L.A. on December 18, then nationwide on January 10.
