There's probably a lot of overlap between people who love ice cream and people who love "Saturday Night Live," and to capitalize on that affection, Ben & Jerry's is creating four new flavors inspired by sketches on the long-running series.
The ice cream purveyors made the announcement this week that they're creating a new line of flavors called SNL Batches in honor of the series' upcoming 40th season. Four flavors will be released throughout the year, and two have already been announced. They are:
Gilly's Catastrophic Crunch, inspired by the maniacal Kristen Wiig character, made with chocolate and sweet cream ice creams with caramel clusters, fudge-covered almonds, and a marshmallow swirl; and Lazy Sunday, inspired by one of "SNL"'s first digital shorts (and Lonely Island collaborations), starring Andy Samberg and Chris Parnell, made with vanilla cake batter ice cream with chocolate and yellow cupcake pieces and a chocolate frosting swirl.
Sadly, these flavors are only available in Ben & Jerry's scoop shops -- not sold as pints in stores -- so their availability is limited. Check out the Ben & Jerry's website for a list of locations, and keep your eyes peeled for the next two flavors to be revealed.
