"NCIS" aired last night, and fans were left with mixed feelings and a lot of questions.

What about Ziva? Well, fans could see the actress who played Ziva with the actor who played NCIS Special Agent Tony DiNozzo, but Cote de Pablo had said she would not return to "NCIS," so there were no new scenes for the pair. Also, Israeli officials told Tony that Ziva was dead in an explosion, but he now has the care of their daughter, Tali. (Mind = blown?) The twist gave Tony a reason for resigning his job to take his daughter to Israel for some answers.

And the twist kept Ziva in hearts and minds, even without her presence. "Were you and Ziva an item the whole time?" Timothy McGee (Sean Murray) asked DiNozzo. "We had a ... connection," answered DiNozzo, "and obviously a very fond farewell." Abby Sciuto (Pauley Perrette) told DiNozzo, "I know how much Ziva really loved you. I know. She told me."

It would've been nice to hear it from Ziva herself, and many fans have reacted with sadness and frustration that there wasn't a good ending with Ziva, and that she is (apparently) dead.

The star himself took to Twitter during and after the airing of the episode, with his former leading lady by his side:

So sweet! Now for the fun part. Weatherly also left a hilarious goodbye message for his fans, so watch that and let him exit to laughter instead of tears:

Do you have hope that Ziva is really alive out there, and she and Tony will reunite?
