Hailing from Kingston, RI, Jesse Fielding entered filmdom at the age of 20, not as an actor but as a sailor. A contestant in the grueling Transpac sailing race between Honolulu and Los Angeles, he appeared prominently in the Walt Disney Pictures documentary covering that event, Morning Light (2007).
