June Knight Biography
Biography
A vivacious blonde from Los Angeles, June Knight (born Margaret Valliquietto) made her mark on Broadway in Florenz Ziegfeld's Hot Cha!, a star-studded affair featuring Lupe Velez, Buddy Rogers, Bert Lahr, and the terpsichorean splendor of Eleanor Powell, and was later in the equally successful Take a Chance (1932) and Jubilee (1934). Hollywood, her hometown, came calling, of course, and she was awarded a contract with Universal. A struggling behemoth at the time, the old studio launched her in a series of forgettable musicals and comedies, and although a pleasant enough personality, she was, well, forgettable in them. Although she didn't film past 1940, Knight's head shot appeared in casting directories well into that decade. - Hans J. Wollstein, All Movie Guide
