Russ Hexter only lived long enough to co-write and direct one film, Dadetown (1995); sadly, it was a work that showed Hexter had promise. Ostensibly, Dadetown is a documentary account of a small American town nearly torn apart by the conflict between the working-class folk who toil in a local industry and the upstart high-tech corporation that sets up shop in town and threatens to "yuppify" the whole burg. The true nature of the film caused considerable controversy for so effectively blurring the lines between documentary and drama.
