Golden Globes by the Numbers

Golden Globes by the Numbers

The 66th Annual Golden Globes boast 144 television and film nominees in 25 different categories (14 for movies and 11 for TV), including one Joker, a 'Wrestler,' three members of an 'Entourage' and a limping MD named 'House.' We've broken down the Globes by the numbers -- from the most nods for a film this year to the age of the oldest winner -- just so that your brain doesn't explode from all the math. Because, you know, that'd be messy. -- By Tom DiChiara

1: Number of nominations for 'The Dark Knight'
It broke box office records and is widely considered the best superhero/comic-book film ever made, but 'The Dark Knight' could squeeze only one nom out of the Hollywood Foreign Press: for late actor Heath Ledger's Joker.

2: Best Actor wins for Hugh Laurie
Though he's 0-3 at the Emmys, Laurie has won two Best Actor Globes (and been nominated four straight years, including 2009) for his role as a limping, acid-tongued medical super-sleuth on 'House.'

3: Most Globes nominations for one person in a single year
Jamie Foxx scored a nomination hat trick in '05: Best Actor in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy ('Ray'); Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture ('Collateral'); Best Actor in a Miniseries or TV Movie ('Redemption'). He took home only the Best Actor Globe for 'Ray' -- and a Best Actor Oscar later that year.

4: Years Mickey "The Wrestler" Rourke was a pro fighter
Mickey Rourke was a bona fide star when he quit the biz in '91 to become a boxer. He returned to acting four years later, but never achieved the same success ... until now. 'The Wrestler' has earned Rourke his first Globes nod ever and talk of Oscar glory. That's what they call a comeback.

    Fox Searchlight

5: Most noms for a single film or TV program in '09
'Doubt,' 'Frost/Nixon' and 'Benjamin Button' nabbed five nods apiece to lead all films, while the HBO series 'In Treatment' and the HBO made-for-TV movie 'Recount' earned five to top the pack on the TV side.

6: Record for career Golden Globe wins
Meryl Streep, Jack Nicholson and Angela Lansbury are tied, though Streep would pull ahead should she prevail as this year's Best Actress for 'Doubt' or 'Mamma Mia!' Technically, Barbra Streisand has eight -- though that includes a Cecil B. DeMille Award and four Henrietta Awards for World Film Favorite.

7: Combined Globes noms for the 'Entourage' boys
With five straight noms for Jeremy Piven and one apiece for Kevin Connolly and Kevin Dillon this year, the 'Entourage' dudes have racked up seven noms in five seasons -- the same career Globe nom tally as TomKat (Tom: 7; Katie: 0).

8: Years since Robert Downey Jr.'s last Globes nomination
Before being nominated for his gut-busting turn in 'Tropic Thunder,' comeback kid Downey earned his only previous Globes nod in '01 for 'Ally McBeal,' winning Best Actor in a Supporting Role - TV after being written off the show.

9: Age of the youngest Globes winner ever
Ricky Schroder took home Best New Star honors in 1980 for his big-screen debut in 'The Champ.' Also: the combined number of nods for Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie ... and the most noms earned by a single film ('Nashville,' though it won only one Globe in '76).
