FAQ - How do I use the new and improved 777-FILM phone service?
Q: When I call the Moviefone phone service, it seems different. Is there anything new about the service I should know about?
A: It is now voice activated so instead using your touch tone phone to select a movie title or a theater, you can just say the name of a movie. You can also search by theater by saying "Find a theater". If you are calling from a noisy environment, you should select touch tone mode by pressing *1. To find out more about the system's new features, you can select "Other Options" and either say "Introduction" (if in voice mode) or press 7 if in touch tone mode.
Q: I really liked using the touch tone function. Will I still be able to do that?
A: Yes. At the start of the call you can use touch tone mode by pressing *1. And you will be able to search by using the first three letters of a movie title, just as you did on the old system. We recommend using touch tone if calling from a noisy environment.
Q: Can I still use theater express codes?
A: Yes, you can also key in the theater express code when prompted at the beginning of the call. If you don't know your theater express codes you can find a list here.
Q: When I use the voice activated feature, the service doesn't understand me. What should I do?
A: If the service doesn't understand what you are saying, it will tell you "I didn?t quite get that" and prompt you to say the name of the movie again or to say "find a theater". Speak as clearly and slowly for the service to better understand. If calling from a noisy environment, it is best to select touch tone mode by pressing *1.
Q: I said the movie title several times and it still doesn't seem to understand me or even respond. What's going on?
A: After two unsuccessful voice requests, the system automatically switches you into touch tone mode. You can now select a movie by using your touch tone keypad.
Q: The old Moviefone used to ask me for my zip code every time I called it. The new service doesn't ask for my zip code. How will it know where my location is?
A: Actually, the very first time you call the new Moviefone service it will ask you for your zip code or city after you make your movie selection. The next time you call Moviefone from that number, it will recognize your number and your location and confirm that it will find showtimes in that location. If you are calling from the same phone and wish to search for theaters near a different zip code or location you can say ?change location?.
Q: If I signed up on the phone for the Limbo service or other services from an ad I heard on Moviefone, how do I stop receiving the text messages?
A: Simply reply to any Limbo message with the word STOP and hit your send button. The service will stop that day.
Q: How do I get the Moviefone phone service to stop calling my phone number?
A: First, you should know that this is not the actual phone service calling your house. This is an instance of phone spamming that is not initiated by Moviefone. It is an outside party that is using our phone service to spam your phone line with calls. Moviefone is unable to take any action to stop this from happening to you, as we are not the ones initiating the call. To track down the person or persons initiating the calls please contact your phone company. Your phone company will be able to trace back to the phone company of the person who is originating these calls. From there, that phone company can trace the individual phone number that is making the calls and, hopefully, trace that to an actual person.
