Think that it is just a desaster film, but hay I still might go to confession before that date you just don't know .... Why would one place surrvie ? If earth was changing it would mean new land formations from the volcanos and diffrent plates moving.... .... would only a few humans surrvie?

It looks like cool effects don't believe it will happen though, Most likely the Myan Calender like any canlender resets and instead of it being ********* is december 21 based on the winter Solice ... You stil might want to do some good deeds and confess if your Catholic just in case... the Myan's were good at caulations and reading the stars and predicting the ecleispes .... So it is debatable is this just an end of a cylcle or the end of the world as we know it? The problem is my ansestors the Spanish destroyed the Myans and their civlization along with any books that could have for told what that end in the calender accually ment. The Myans beleived in Cycles and in human scrafice too...So we just have to wait and see .... is it an end or is it just another Cycle or do humans go the way of the dinosaurs? Europens really like burning books don't they?

I was impressed by the special effects and the story line was semi plausible. The characters were likable and well developed. The action scenes were way over the top but it is a movie. It would be wasted on the small screen. Definitely see on the big screen. My wife and I enjoyed it.

Does anyone really go see a disaster movie and expect plausibility? It was a fun 2.5 hours, had a few laugh out loud moments and some heartbreaking moments. No, it wasn't as good as Independence Day, but was still good. Cusack isn't my favorite actor but he did a credible job and the rest of them weren't especially Academy Award material but it was okay. Just realize this is supposed to be entertainment.

yes; is a good movie but every body is rigth the special effects. you can see it only in teathres ,no like the movie 4th of july still in tv you can injoy it

I totally agree with InfoSeek360. The movie was: 1) ridiculous and implausible, 2) way too long, 3) cast with a bunch of third-rate actors whose performances were laughable. What a waste of time and hard-earned money.

I understand that to some that this was "just a movie" however, these events could really happen and even in our lifetime. It was very profound and if it doesn't make you think about your life and our existence then something is wrong. Don't just see this as a movie because there is a bigger message being sent. Also at the end, the only continent that was standing was....AFRICA. The motherland made it to the end. I guess it is true that those that are last will become first and those that are first will become last. People please take heed to prophetic message that was given through this movie. Jesus saves!

I wanted to like this movie, but I gotta be honest. The story was stupid and totally predictable, the acting was bad, and the effects were actually so over the top that it was laughable. I wish someone had warned me before I wasted almost 3 hours.
