I was so disappointed that 2012 with such spectacular special effects and potentially the most interesting subject mater of the decade turned out to be a badly written poorly acted story about a dysfunctional family.

I thought 2012 was a movie that utilized some of the best special effects on the market to date. Was it cheezy? Sure. It's an end-of-the-world film people, not Tolstoy.... Was it predictable? Of course... like Independence Day and movies of that ilk were not... Were there any "reality flaws"? Sure, like people could swim in ice-cold water and save the day.... Funny moments, great effects, and actually, dare I say a nearly-biblical and almost happy ending? I know, no sex, no frank murdering or slaughtering, no drugs.... what a dull film, eh? I loved the 2 hours of fantasy fluff for what it was. I didn't go to the theater for a geology course, political science course, or expecting to exit as a better human being. Jeez.... I've been to less entertaining football games at ten times the price.

another flop, the problem these days with computer graphics in movies is the over use, it is almost ridiculous, over kill and unreal, like something a 10 year old would put together. Harrelson had about a total of 5 min in the film and last but no least it appeard to be a racist film towards whites,the real leading charaters are a black president, as usual, a another leading black man and his black girlfriend, the use of Cuzak is to through you off as he is not the leading man really. And in the end, Guess what??? Africa is the only cont that rises out of this dissaster. Total racist movie towards whitey

In the opinion of many, the movie's plot is repetive in the action scenes and death, but that is part of it's thrill. It's the END OF THE WORLD being portrayed! The actual causes are factually based and some of todays leading predictions for an apocolypse. (Stating the movie's plot would be rude, but those who have seen it may research this information on their own will.) Of course there would be large scale death throughout the globe, which is demonstrated repeatedly. Also, the deaths' of characters of focus in the movie bring into sight the morbid nature of such happenings. You plead for the demolition of the world to end and the people to survive, but it comes down to the truth that many just won't make it. As to the comments that "this family never could've lived", many didn't. View the plot from this perspective: among the billions that died, a few lived, and the focus is put on this family's story because they happened to be one of the few lucky ones. Think backwards, pretend

I wonder how many people out there saw this movie and realize it maybe based in reality. We are headed straight on a path towards 2012. The predictions in this movie could be real. This is not just some disaster movie to say.... oh that was great...that was awesome how they did that...and move on. This maybe our future. There is a mountain of data, books, documentaries and information on the web. That this is not just a movie. Acting and special effects aside. The plot is and could be very real. The facts are...2012 we are headed to a galactic alignment...2012 we are headed to the largest production of solar radiation ever known. 2012. The Earth may heat up...2012 the plates.. tectonic plate that hold the continents where they are, could move. 2012 the poles could shift. 2012 the damage could be real. 2012 could very well be The End! Not that we can do much about it but I just wanted to know how many out there realize this maybe more than a movie...It may be our future

The story reminded me of Independence Day as well. My question is "why after 25 years of sobriety did they have the man drink again"...very irresponsible on the part of the writers.

Think that it is just a desaster film, but hay I still might go to confession before that date you just don't know .... Why would one place surrvie ? If earth was changing it would mean new land formations from the volcanos and diffrent plates moving.... .... would only a few humans surrvie?

It looks like cool effects don't believe it will happen though, Most likely the Myan Calender like any canlender resets and instead of it being ********* is december 21 based on the winter Solice ... You stil might want to do some good deeds and confess if your Catholic just in case... the Myan's were good at caulations and reading the stars and predicting the ecleispes .... So it is debatable is this just an end of a cylcle or the end of the world as we know it? The problem is my ansestors the Spanish destroyed the Myans and their civlization along with any books that could have for told what that end in the calender accually ment. The Myans beleived in Cycles and in human scrafice too...So we just have to wait and see .... is it an end or is it just another Cycle or do humans go the way of the dinosaurs? Europens really like burning books don't they?
