This movie was really good. It's not going to win any academy awards for acting or get critic acclaims for this masterful art project, so if that is what you are looking for you are going to the wrong movie. The movie is very entertaining though. It is a testostrone fest with a lot of blood, guts, and arrogance. The visual effects are really good, if you have the chance to see this on IMAX the better. Also, it is not a history lesson, do not think this movie is accurate to describe Sparta or the Greek-Persian Wars. The story is "Hollywood"ized a bit. They do show some of the Spartans movements and talk about why the Spartans were the best soldiers but there are some details left out. We doubled with another couple and even the girls enjoyed the movie. Even when the girls didnt like the guts they didnt mind checking out the Spartans. I recommend this if you are looking for a good action flick. I think the critics are too harsh on this one and not looking at it from the average action movie goers view.

This movie was more an adventure then a movie. You feel as if you are there in battle with the Spartans. Acting is well done. Directing superb. The visual effects make the movie exciting. You leave understanding what it felt to be a Spartan. A Go and see it.

This movie was one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. Critics NEVER know what they're talking about. It's like they are paid to insult good movies and praise bad ones.

Nobody here seems to acknowledge that Sparta had refused help to the Athenians when they defeated the first Persion attack on Greece, led by Xerxes' father Darius. That story, which includes the basis for what we now call a 'marathon,' contains at least as much true heroism and even moreso the theme of fighting for what is right against huge odds. While the 300 indeed fought with unparalelled bravery, it was always the plan to let the Persians enter Athens (the actual decree carved in stone by which Athenians were told to abandon the city has been discovered by archeologists) -- which they wanted more than anything to burn to the ground -- and then divert them into a trap at sea where they were, in fact, defeated by Athenian triremes. Unlike Sparta, a military dictatorship, Athens represented the first enduring effort to achieve democracy. The Athenian story is de-emphasized in this movie, lessening the film's significance in terms of its overall contribution to the cultural discourse.

I saw 300 last night and was totally blown away. The graphics, the fight scenes, the plot. Totally outstanding! I'd see it again for sure. But go see it in the theaters, I can imagine something would be lost watching it on tv.
