In an era that has proved incapable of credible epic sensibility, where individuality overrides the grandure that is as at the core of such films, 300 takes the genre on at its most essential, indeed, at its most ancient: myth. The movie "reads" like a heroic dream -- or, rather, as a nightmare.

300 is a story about the The battle of Thermopylae and the story of the king who fought it. He knew the consequences and the conditions. It is a poignant look at the grand scale of the Mighty Spartans vs. the Persian forces. Defeat is imminent, but the attitude is not. The Spartans are the underlying winners. And if that should somehow affect the decision to see or not see this film, then you have your answer. But it is by no means, a waste of time or effort. You will be affected by the superb effects and the stunning scenes. It is high art and a mold for modern film making! And the story is complete and the cast is iconic. Enjoy!

This movie was a huge letdown. Beyond the choppy plot and weak character development, I couldn't get past the apparent plagiaristic use of graphic and sound elements from "Gladiator". Overall, the movie was like a weak pastiche of Gladiator imagery, Christian iconography, and "King Arthur" dialogue. The only saving graces were the titillation of the nudity and some creative horror elements used to present the Persian army. Save your money and rent it on DVD.

This movie was decent .. It wasnt near as good as movies like Braveheart, Gladiator, or Troy .. Also it had way too many unnecessary nude scenes .. Something to see but don't take your girlfriend or wife with you

I am appalled at the critics reviews of this movie. Its as if we watch two different movies. Before watching 300, Troy was my favorite movie but 300 has exceeded all my expections. The acting was great, the story line was great and the special effects left me speechless. I encouraged EVERYONE to go see it at least once.

300 was the most extraordinary movie I've ever seen. It has everything action, romance and comedy. The actors were astounding, they made you feel their words. When they spoke you believed their words, the pride they felt in being Spartans. This movie was beautifully written and filmed and the actors were phenomenal. I can't wait to see it again and again, and when the DVD comes out I'm buying two just in case one gets scratched. I loved it.

Nowadays, it seems like I can never find a good film. But 300 is by far the best movie I have seen in a VERY, VERY long time. This movie was completely CGI except for some scenes and all of the actors, very impressive. The acting was FANTASTIC. I couldn't believe it.
