Plot

A young married couple struggles to make a go of it in the aftermath of the French conflict in Algeria. After the man's discharge from the army, they are invited to Monte Carlo to visit his wealthy uncle. They live in a cramped apartment that is as depressing as the resort town is exciting and beautiful. The woman becomes pregnant, the man has a hard time finding work, and the country is torn apart by bombings and police raids.
