\"A Christmas Story\" mirrors my childhood of the late 30s ? early 40s. The father of one of my friends actually owned that same model Oldsmobile. (Indeed thanks to the war, they and the rest of us were forced to keep those 30s era cars well into the late 40s.) And although Dad didn't normally use profanity, once in a while when confronted with serious situations, a few shame-shame

This is, without a doubt, the quintessential Christmas movie. It embodies the Christmas holiday in all it's glories and quirks from the eyes of a child, just as it should be. A must see!

lphie always pops back into my memories of past Christmases as I watch it again, and again, When Ralphie's father asks him to help change a tire, and Ralphie blurts out the F-word, I always laugh and laugh thinking what a truly accurate snapshot of middle America that film is. I bought each of my 3 sons a copy of this holiday favorite and now I enjoy watching my grandsons giggling through the
