Ah jeez. I actually wanted this one to be good. Or at least decent. Or at least a reminder of what got us all fired up about the first Die Hard in 1988. But A Good Day To Die Hard, the fifth in a creatively exhausted series, is total crap. show more

    Mick LaSalle San Francisco Chronicle

It has a weak story that provides no tension, feeling or interest. Its opening action sequence is just a long, drawn-out dud, filmed by director John Moore in the worst modern style of quick cuts and smeary, jittery photography. show more

The best thing about A Good Day to Die Hard is its title. show more

For anyone who remembers the "Die Hard" adventures at their vital and exciting best, this film feels like a near-death experience. show more

For all its mayhem, for all the smashing windows and kabooming fireballs, the grenade launchers and giant helicopters, A Good Day to Die Hard not only fails to top its predecessors, it also forgets the basic Die Hard rules. show more

Ultimately, even more than 2007’s “Live Free or Die Hard,” “Good Day” never lets McClane be McClane. Gone is his taunting snark and quick-witted preparedness; instead he seems like a jerk with a thing for guns. show more

    Todd McCarthy The Hollywood Reporter

Unfortunately, John Moore has directed these sequences in a way that makes the incidents look so far-fetched and essentially unsurvivable that you can only laugh. show more

Far more than most action stars getting on in years, Bruce Willis has aged nicely into the role. Maybe it’s that shaved pate of his, a bullet-head that still looks primed for any chamber. show more

    James Berardinelli ReelViews

We have entered generic action movie territory and the idiosyncrasies that made the series special at the outset have been leeched out, papered over, or turned into obligatory inserts. show more

To paraphrase a classic of Reagan-era cinema, A Good Day to Die Hard is a bad day to stop sniffing glue. show more

You need to put your seat belt on for this flick. Action from front to back. Bruce is still the man to beat in action flicks. Stay off the edge of the seat. You\'ll see.

Bruce Willis pulls off it off! A great story of a tough-love teacher in an inner-city school. Very inspiring and a tear-jerker! Highly recommend it as a first-date movie!!!

A fine romp for a great actor. Saw it yesterday and enjoyed. Fun echoes of previous Die Hard movies within this movie. Great fun!

Badly written, sloppily edited, poorly acted, shot by what appears to be a particularly hyper preteen with ADD. Not jst the worst of the series - by far! - but one of the worst movies of the last five years. To thumbs wa-a-a-a-a-ay down; -5/5 stars; F (pick your own ratings system). Note to studios: putting a really awful movie on an IMAX screen does not make it better- it magnifies the film\'s shortcomings. All of them.

WORST Die Hard film EVER!!!! Wish we would have walked out. Nothing but over the top unbelievable action scenes. We were laughing at how absurd many of the scenes were, saying \"yeah RIGHT\". Iron Man would have died in some of the action scenes they did. Also the part where they were have a father/son tearful moment didn\'t even feel sincere (totally felt like they were acting).
