Screenwriting this smart, inventive, passionate and rip-roaringly funny is a rare species. It's magic. show more
Adaptation, like "Being John Malkovich" before it, is far from a well-made film, even on its own flaky terms. But it's a brave, sometimes brilliant one, with a phantasmagoric ending, full of love and hope, that defeats prose description. Never was an adaptation more original. show more
It's a testament to Cage's canny performance and Jonze's seamless use of special effects that you believe Charlie and Donald are two entirely different people. show more
One of the BEST movies ever! The twists and turns and even a \"prediction\" of what is in the design and ending makes it a movie I\'ve watched several times and look forward to seeing it again. Each time I find something else that is clever as well as entertaining. Definitely NOT a comedy:)
Brilliant!!!!! One of my all time favorite movies
As a movie "buff" and sometimes actor myself, I've seen a LOT of movies and can testify how hard it is to find a truly original plot....but this movie HAS ONE... a truly original plot with so many twists that even a jaded old movie fan can't guess what's going to happen next. I noticed that some of the critics called this a comedy .. and it is, indeed, very funny in places but be prepared for it to turn deadly serious toward the end. Although a lot funnier in "Raising Arizona", a REAL comedy, Cage is at his dramatic best giving distinct characters to both of two identical twin brothers...and the "plot within a plot within a plot" thing is absolutely ingenious writing.. I highly recommend this film.
