Plot Summary
During the celebration of Australia's bicentennial of its settlement by Europeans, 29 separate directors and camera crews spend the day filming the festivities in different parts of the country. Shot entirely on January 26, 1988, the film shows citizens from all walks of life, and interviews with various people reveal what it means to be an Australian. As counterpoint, the film shows the plight of the Aboriginal Australians who have been left out of the country's narrative history.
