AWAKE was both disappointing and somewhat riveting. Note that the point of the anesthesia awareness phenomenon here is not only what the paralyzed patient feels, but also what he HEARS. That plot twist...where all is not "what it seems to be"...is certainly a shock. Best performance is by Lena Olin as Alba's mother in law, who ends up doing some fine last minute detective work. Alba and Christensen serve up good eye candy....but somehow, I did not leave the theater convinced or inspired.

I believe in plots and good acting not just the more famous persons appearing in the box office. This movie touched every emotion of a human. I loved it! And for those who don't get it please stick with the more predictable same old boring plots of the past.

Most of you know my reviews, and most of you have found them useful. I judge this by all of the emails I receive. Go and see this because it's good. Bella is good, too. You're taking a chance with Compass, but avoid everything else for now. There is not much that is good right now. But if you like thrillers then go and see this.

The film was very powerful and showed war as being the ugliest aspect of humanity. War is not a "team sport" like many politiicians portray it. Innocent people are brutally kiilled and tortured in all wars. The moment a person thinks that their "side" is the "right side" they become vulmerable to all the atrocities. That is the reality. I applaud Mr. De Palma for his effort to remind people that war is not a board game followed by a parade. It is death and it is pain.

Im 22 yrs old, took my 15 yr old sister and i was the one to get ID-ed at the ticket office, Haha. None the less i highly enjoyed this movie. While it was on the shorter side, i found to be ok with that, if it were any longer i think it woulda havetaken away from the movie. The different plots, kept you thinking, and i didnt expect some of the characters to turn out they way they did. I agree with some of those who said at first the mother seemed to be the one to hate, but at the end you had to love her. The surgery part made my entire body hurt, i had to look away at times, but all in all it was a really good movie. i reccomend it to anyone. (except young kids)

Ok so for the people who said this was boring or they didnt expect it to be the way it was...watch the previews on tv!!!It basically gives away the main plot, not the one that just get's shoved in your face (it was great seeing Jessica's character be a total b*tch for once).I mean Hayden cant talk, cant move, you hear his thoughts through the whole thing...just like what YOU would be doing if you were in that situation.I went to see it cause I absolutely adore Hayden Christensen and when ever he cried out about the pain I believed it *cringes remembering*...my own heart hurt for an hour after watching the movie and I thought it was VERY powerful. But I know alot of people out there (my step dad included) have a great fear of hospitals and surgery...I REALLY WOULDNT recommened this movie to you...

I liked the creepy way the surgery made me feel...I actually screamed and tried to imagine the pain he must have felt. I started out really disliking the mother, but ended up loving her so much that I cried. I got so mad at Alba's character that I was praying she'd get arrested. This movie elicited so many emotions in me, but I was disappointed that it ended without allowing the Christensen character to react to what happened. See it!

I went to see this film b/c I'm a Hayden Christensen fan, so I just can't miss a movie of his. The premise sounded interesting so I was interested in the movie itself. The movie was good. I did find they spent too much time in the OR and I expected a little something different. I didn't realize there would be a whole new plot midway through the movie. I thought the movie would focus more on the awareness he felt during surgery. Although I enjoyed the new plot and was surprised by it, I would have found the awareness focus more interesting. Additionally, I was hoping for something more at the end involving this. I was also hoping for Hayden's character to be able to tell everyone what the doctors were trying to do instead of completely out of the blue as it was. It would have been nice to see Hayden's character turn the tables on Jessica's character, but this was not the case. That was basically the only thing that left me unsatisfied. I think the storyline would have worked better that way, but then I'm not in show business. Overall, I enjoyed watching the movie on this fine Monday afternoon while the kids were at school.
