HORRIBLE. stupid. not funny. awful!
Cage gives a great performance about the shallowness and corruption of a drug-addict cop.
It'***** or miss with me and Nicolas Cage. This was a miss. I don't mind my leading man to have a few flaws in his personality, but "Bad"... oesn't come close to describing this Lieutenant. As far as acting, the funky shoulder tilt thing Cage does to infer he has a bad back looks ridiculous. Everyonr knows that the tilt begins at the hips, not the shoulders. It was lame (pardon the pun). Don't buy this movie. I wish I hadn't! Full Review
Relentlessly depressing. Sleaze, sleaze, sleaze. Did not hold my interest, so I left.

No one is better at this kind of performance than Nicolas Cage. He's a fearless actor. He doesn't care if you think he goes over the top. If a film calls for it, he will crawl to the top hand over hand with bleeding fingernails.Full Review
Bad Lieutenant doesn't go where you expect, but it has a stubborn, trippy logic.Full Review
Mr. Herzog's film is a pulpy, glorious mess. Its maniacal unpredictability is such a blast that it reminds you just how tidy and dull most crime thrillers are these days.Full Review
It's tempting to forget that Cage is not Terence. That would be unfair though, and diminish the sheer ferocity of his performance.Full Review
Frankly, the story isn’t remotely as interesting as Cage. Nothing is. In Ferrara’s movie, Keitel emptied himself out. But there’s a hellion’s joy in Cage’s cop.Full Review
