Very gory and graphic to the point of nausea, annimation or not. Do not take kids under 12. Intriguing, but so violent - and I can take a lot of realistic violence so this was surprising - it turned o... ur stomachs. Makes movies like "Gladiator" seem low key and tame. People being eaten alive, limbs ripped off and discarded, absolute and total gore. Worth a look if you're prepared for it, but we were caught off guard because none of the reviews mention the graphic violence. Our two teenagers were completely grossed out. Full Review

As an avid movie-goer I decided to take a chance and see this movie in spite of the cheesy trailer. Well, I wasn'tdisappointed. This director also wrote the script and in my opinion he needs to make T... V movies. This would've been a great TV movie for Friday night, but to pay to see it in a theater? The R rating must've been for the F word that was used about three times, otherwise it could've been a PG-13. Hope this guy does something better the next time out. Full Review

The only reason the movie was at all bare able was the 3-D effects. The animation was very well done. The story line was absolutely terrible. I am amazed it was rated PG-13, a very, very graphic movi... e with a lot of nudity and a lot of blood and gore. Not sure what the raters were thinking. Save your money and rent it...better yet, save your money all together and don't see it at all. Full Review

As a high school English teacher, I've been putting off my students for weeks ('Please? Can we go see "Beowulf"? Please please please...') Of course, high school kids would love this movie...but so ... did I! The 3D effects are incredible, and while the film doesn't stay true to the entire _Beowulf_ text, it captures its essence--the amazing superhuman, yet still human, boastful, helpful hero Beowulf taking on a monster, that monster's mother and a dragon. Of course, it's truly "Hollywoodized"...I mean, Angelina Jolie as a MONSTER's mother? But the film still works. Anthony Hopkins' performance as Hrothgar is much too short, and I still think that CGI'ing real people is creepy, but this movie was FUN...and I'm going to take my seniors to see it! Go and enjoy!
