This is a film version of a book. My experience has shown me that most movies do not even compare to the rich detail or character development that goes into the book that they were based on. Most of these commebts and reviews that i have read just lead me to believe that no one who watched this movie had previously read the book. Otherwise you would have been a bit more prepared for what the movie contained.

On the comment of racisim inthe movie: there actually was one positive african american role. The man with the patch. He was actually one of the better roles in the entire movie. Not that anything in the entire movie could be considered enjoyable in the least.

This movie was terible. I would NOT recommend it to anyone. It left you with all kinds of questions - what made them go blind, what gave them back their sight, why did the government treat these people the way they did, etc. I just didn't get it.

Please read my previous post... If you are not African American and you're watching this movie, please attempt to watch this movie from an African American point of view. I am not saying that all whites are racist. In fact, most white people these days are very accepting of African Americans. However, when I see this movie, it almost causes me to think otherwise. I felt so uncomfortable watching this movie that I felt like leaving. I know that the majority of whites who see this post will be sympathetic to my position. So I trust that we are united against the racism of those who made this movie.

I saw this movie two days ago. I must say that it was not a bad movie. However, if you are an African American, you will find yourself feeling uneasy when watching the movie. The first time an African American plays a significant role in the movie, he has to be the jerk. All African Americans in the movie are the way they would be viewed by racist whites, post 1970s. So there are no sophisticated African Americans in the movie. I would not be surprised if the African Americans were forced to look less sophisticated than the whites during filming. Clearly the racist aspect of this movie has nothing to do with the plot. There is no logical or deeper reason as to why it is in the movie. The other notable part is that when a white character uses the word "n*gger", the African American character doesn't care at all. Instead he just downplays the comment(Now if that's not being a "Chicken George!). You don't have to be African American to tell how racist this movie is.
