Blanchett in Blue Jasmine is beyond brilliant, beyond analysis. This is jaw-dropping work, what we go to the movies hoping to see, and we do. Every few years. show more

It's one of the year's finest, most complex portrayals, in one of Allen's best films in years. show more

Cate Blanchett tops anything she's done in the past with her portrait of a fallen woman who's a hoot, a horror, a heartbreaker and a wonder. The mystery of the movie as a whole is that it depicts a bleak world of pervasive rapacity, deceit and self-delusion, yet keeps us rapt with delight. show more

The scene when she's (Blanchette) babysitting Ginger's boys and takes them to a diner - and confides about her electric shock treatments ("Edison's medicine"), her breakdowns, about the side effects of Prozac and Lithium . . .. it's genius. show more

The way she (Blanchette) anchors this superb dramedy is a thing of beauty. show more

Although marred by a couple of too-convenient plot contrivances, this often humorous drama lands firmly in the plus column among the Woodman's recent works. show more

As written, Jasmine is a hopeless neurotic, trapped in a perpetual panic. As played, she has a wicked hint of Scarlett O'Hara. show more

When Allen conceives of a character this great, it’s hard not to wish for him to slow down and maybe write that extra draft to refine his creation, but Blanchett – at once both repellant and eminently relatable – uses the casual tone to her advantage, the same way that monster movies use miniatures for scale. show more

Richly chronicled characters, sharp dialogue and that stupendous centerpiece performance by Cate Blanchett are contributing factors in the best summer movie of 2013 and one of the most memorable Woody Allen movies ever. show more

great movie, i got totally absorbed in all the characters. Cate Blanchett was fab and you could feel her pain. All others were awesome also. Maybe an academy award contender.

Cate Blanchett was awesome! I can\'t see anyone else playing the part of Jasmine. Casting and acting by all was great. The true test of any art form is, Would you see it again? Indeed! Don\'t worry about following the plot. Long as you don\'t go to sleep during a flashback. At least here you KNOW it\'s a flashback. See the classic Marlon Brando \"A Streetcar Named Desire\" for Woody\'s inspiration on characters.

Fabulous movie not a comedy, I winder if Woody was thinking of his indiscretions in the scene of leaving her for a too young girl. Movie not for idiots Kate Oscar Best Actress

Am I the only one who thought this about frantic, desperate, pitiful people( not unusual for Allen)......thus depressing? I did laugh once. DWOL

very, very good! Great acting by all. Remember folks, this is Woddy Allen. If you can\'t follow a plot and relate to characters, go see something else. This movie is not for the shallow minded who are looking for a blow \'em up, special effects, leave your brain at the door type movie.

Up there with one of our worst movies ever seen although Kate Blanchette\'s acting was superb. Would not recommend this movie.

I thought Kate Blanchette was magnificent. I also thought the supporting cast did an excellent job. Kate should get an oscar nod!
