Cedar Rapids had me smiling at hello. show more

In addition to being funny and endearing and having a lively script and lots of nicely observed performances - is something of an education. show more

This is a Frank Capra-meets-Judd Apatow comedy with a sweetness-laced ribaldry. show more

    Joe Morgenstern Wall Street Journal

The main thing about Cedar Rapids is that it makes you laugh-often and out loud. show more

    Carrie Rickey Philadelphia Inquirer

For a movie loaded with ear-scorching profanity, oceans of booze, and illegal drugs enough to keep all of Cedar Rapids in high spirits for a month, there is something fundamentally decent about the film. show more

Elizabeth Weitzman New York Daily News

Its appeal comes almost entirely from the cast members, who appear genuinely excited to invite us to their party. show more

    The Hollywood Reporter

It's not exactly "The Hangover," but the dialogue and situations often get distinctly gamey. show more

    Stephanie Zacharek Movieline

It's a movie that needs to look down its nose for its laughs, which generally isn't the best place to find them. show more

As a satire of the insurance industry, and more implicitly of religious hypocrisy, Cedar Rapids is mild stuff. But the movie has a nice lived-in feel, and a sense that its comedy has been earned. show more

To ensure customer loyalty, Hollywood should promote more movies about workaday life in the provinces, but until there's a new wave of midcoast comedies, Cedar Rapids is the big kahuna. show more

This movie was amazing, the dry humor killed me in laughter. John C. Reily made this movie a hit. I have no clue how this movie didnt make the theatres. I was crying whenver John Reily aka. Deansy was in the shot, his lines put me in complete tears as I said.

Ed Helms appears to be making a career out of playing the mild-mannered small town nice guy who goes to the big city to dabble in sex, drugs, and getting beaten up. But instead of Las Vegas, or even Chicago, the big city here is played by Cedar Rapids, Iowa. And his instructors in debauchery are played by John C. Reilly, Isaiah Whitlock Jr, and Anne Heche. Genuinely both funny and moving.

I am so ticked off...I was expecting so much from this movie after seeing the trailer. The movie is 1 hour/26 minutes long and I hung in there for 50 minutes just waiting for a laugh before I walked out, just couldn't take anymore, it was that bad. All there was were flat jokes and lame attempts at humor through gross sexual "jokes" like the "tuna" reference type (I don't mind sophomoric humor of that vein if it ends up funny...but this was so lame). Unless this movie had some kind of miracle in the last half hour, it was a complete waste of talent and of my time.
