Could have been a really good pic. Hanks and Roberts, in my opinion, could have phoned in their performances. Philip Seymour Hoffman was GREAT as usual and deserves his GG nomination.I dozed off a couple of times and was not even tired. Just bored! The buzz in the theatre was more of a communal shoulder shrug!DID SOMEONE SAY THE FANTASTIC ACTRESS, EMILY BLUNT, WAS IN THIS MOVIE??? MUST HAVE BEEN WHEN I WAS DOZING!!

Well done movie. The movie was fast paced, and very witty. You have to pay attention and listen closely to catch most of the jokes. A lot of nudity, somewhat gory images, so do not take the kids. I was pleasantly surprised to find that although the overall message was somewhat "critical" (for lack of a better term) of USA policy, it was definitely not even remotely close to an Anti-American movie (something that I was afraid it could have turned into). Overall: great message, witty, entertaining, good movie! Definitely something I think people should see.

OMG....this movie is awesome!! By far the best movie to come out this xmas season. Love the story about the debonair congressman and the role he plays in defending our great Nation. I never knew Pakistan played such a huge role in defending our freedom and bringing down the Soviet Union in the 80's.....much like they are doing right now fighting the war on terror for us. Julia roberts was great! This movie is a must see for anyone. Im even going to buy the book too now..

Nudity and the "F" Bomb in the first 25 minutes sent me out of the theatre. Not impressed.

This was a MUST_SEE movie. As much as I hated I am Legend, see review, I loved this one. The dialogue was so crisp and well=written. It was like a game, you just had to hear what they were saying. No matter what your political views are, this is first rate movie making,. It kept me engrossed for almost two hours. The performances were so good, they had me mesmerized.Phillip Seymour Hoffman and Tom Hanks were so good, other performances pale when compared. Julia Roberts was good, but not in their league. See it, !!!

its an amazing movie.for grownups and for mature teens. my daughter even enjoyed it.It is a drama. also comedy.Tom Hanks did amazing.Makes you think how we repeat our past...

Disjointed, drags at times and sex/nudity is overdone. Hoffman plays his part well, but so many good movies out now (No Country for Old Men is great!!!!!). From a historical perspective, it is factually inaccurate:He was an unscrupulous Congressman, not a GOD, and an embarrassment to his district, the Naval Academy and this Country. He and this movie were both disappointments!

That is right! The tom cruise and merylin streep movie, and yes I did not capitalize their names on purpose, was similar in content, but SUCKED. It was dull where Charlies War was funny, it was long and drawn out where Charlie's War was to the point, without long drawn out dialogue that goes nowhere. My wife gave this movie a 10, and I would say she is right on target. It was funny, sexy, and FUN...is that not what movie's should be? Go see it, but see No Country for Old Men first.
