Entertaining but over-rated.
I hoped this movie would be a knock out because of Pfeiffer and Kathy Bates but I found it a dreadful bore. The visuals were great and the costumes... fabulous but the story while a simple one was stupid and a real snooze. I had hoped this would be a super chick flick and just found it to be a turkey instead. Kathy Bates was the best in the film I feel she will get a supporting nomination for this one. Full Review
Really a superb flic. Pfeiffer is faboulous in the part, Great visuals - a really complex and interesting story about life - as true today as when... llete wrote the story. Pfeiffer is certainly Oscar worthy. Full Review
Great movie. Michelle Pfeiffer was brilliant. Hope this is the year she is finally given her long awaited Oscar. And at 51, Michelle Pfeiffer is... ill beautiful. Kathie Bates was great as usual. Movie had it all, laughs, romance. Must see. Full Review

Now that she's past 50, can we all stop holding Michelle Pfeiffer's looks against her and just admit that she's a great actress?Full Review
The success of Stephen Frears' film Chri begins with its casting. Michelle Pfeiffer, as Lea de Lonval, is still a great beauty.Full Review

Actors blossom under Frears' direction. There is no false moment or off-key note in this movie.Full Review
What makes Cheri’ worth your while is that its true subjects are women and age, and its observations apply to both 19th-century France and the modern film industry.Full Review
