Plot
Matthew O'Neill and Jon Alpert took the reins for this highly intimate, emotionally intense look at the anguish of parents who lost their children during the 2008 earthquake in Sichuan, China. The film covers a great deal of thematic ground by beginning with the said topic and then expanding its focus to incorporate views of Chinese culture, criticism of Chinese bureaucracy and images of an entire nation in dire grief from the loss of its children. The film received a 2009 Oscar nomination for Best Documentary Short.
