An homage to old movies. Makes me nostalgic for my childhood in France. Whe had no TV and movies were our entertainment and we loved them so. I can identify with the main character and the memories that come when I go back to France. Bittersweet memories. Love this movie. The music touches my heart strings.
I have been a very big fan and devotee of Cinema Paradiso since my first viewing of it. I have seen it four times and will continue to do so periodically. It is one of the greatest films I have ever seen and one which has touched me totally.
Watch this movie at least once a year.. Was moved to tears and laughter. This movie will never be outdated... i put this film into the same cat as Now Voyager.... Enjoy!!

A few moments of sly inspiration are not enough to carry an entire feature; along with the tears, it leaves behind an aftertaste of phoniness. [16 March 1990, Friday, p.H] Full Review

This film is sometimes funny, sometimes joyful, and sometimes poignant, but it's always warm, wonderful, and satisfying. Cinema Paradiso affects us on many levels, but its strongest connection is with our memories. Full Review

A sweet, funny exercise in nostalgia, though it's also self-congratulatory and awfully calculating. Full Review
