    Frank Scheck The Hollywood Reporter

Courageous reveals the duo's growing expertise as filmmakers with its skillful blending of moving drama, subtle comedy and several impressive action sequences, including a well-staged foot chase and a harrowing shootout between the cops and bad guys. show more

    Tom Russo Boston Globe

For all Kendrick's stolidity, he delivers a couple of wrenchingly tender scenes. show more

Even the logos for the companies involved in its making (Sherwood Films and Affirm Films) and distribution (TriStar Pictures) scream that this will be a message from on high. show more

    Roger Moore Orlando Sentinel

The message delivered isn't subtle, with Kendrick delivering toss-away lines that suggest he doesn't even tolerate "the option" of divorce. But the bigger message might be that the Kendricks haven't sold out, "gone Hollywood" or watered down their Baptist beliefs based on efforts to reach an audience beyond the faithful. show more

How you like Courageous - an overtly Christian-targeted production about four police officers learning lessons about God and family - will likely mirror how you view church: It's either an overlong ordeal filled with talky sermonizing or an uplifting communion with your deity and values. show more

    Joe Leydon Variety

Moviegoers devoted to faith-based fare will flock to megaplexes for Courageous, easily the most polished production so far from brothers Alex and Stephen Kendrick, the prolific and increasingly accomplished filmmaking pastors at the Sherwood Church of Albany, Ga. show more

For now, though, Mr. Kendrick will have to settle for being a good enough filmmaker, content to preach to the choir. show more

    Gary Goldstein Los Angeles Times

Courageous, proves a particularly clunky, tunnel-visioned vehicle whose overbearing, overlong script nearly smothers the movie's quibble-free message. show more

    Nick Schager Village Voice

Borderline creepy, Courageous endlessly expounds on the importance of God in men's lives but fails to answer the more pressing question of why religious sagas such as this treat subtlety as a sin. show more

    Nathan Rabin The A.V. Club

Courageous literally preaches to the converted, delivering ham-fisted messages of responsibility to the most receptive audience possible. show more

Great Movie! It guides us to be Courageous when called upon to do Gods will in a crisis! It inspires me to care and help people in life and death situations!

Any caring father would love the message that is given from this movie. As a retired social worker I have seen the worst side of life, children without fathers, homeless, ex cons, violence. I bless God that I have two wonderful sons, now grown with families of their own. They are both wonderful fathers, live for the family and love their family more then anything else. This movie shows that not only are you are father for your own, but if you care about others and trust in the Lord, you will be a father to those who need you.

The best movie out there for dad\'s who need to understand how to connect with God and their family. After watching this movie and you don\'t re-think about being a better dad then the point of the movie was missed. It\'s a manual you can watch over again to get back on track and many dad\'s need to get right with their children and wife. Overall a very good movie for the whole family.
