Upon his dishonorable discharge from the Navy, cook Loren Collins (Jason Lee) takes his military culinary training and moves back to Brooklyn, N.Y., to toss dough in his father's pizza joint. Rebounding from a bout of self-hatred, Collins then flies to France to meet his idol, notorious celebrity chef Louis Boyer (Eddy Mitchell). After convincing Boyer to hire him, Collins struggles to impress his new mentor -- and finds himself falling for Boyer's beautiful daughter Gabrielle (Irene Jacob).
