Here is a man in a pretty vanilla life with the boring job, the average wife, one exceptional elder child and one 2nd child that always feels inferior. In minutes his life is shattered. Everything he does after that initial death of his son is quicksand. He gets's pulled in deeper and deeper. everytime he seeks justice or revenge it get's worse. This is "Strawdogs", "Unforgiven" and other movies where you can see that Kafka like metamorphisis from a man into something that is primal. He starts by running from this gang...he is swept up in the violence...and becomes more and more scared by each interaction and death until the ending where he realizes that this situation made him who he is and he is not unlike the thugs he is killing. The thugs became this way because this is the only life they knew. Bacon adapted to survive. But at what cost? Powerful. moving and gripping. Bacon is the movie and everyone else is along for the ride.A must see.

After what he did to those boys on sleepers, I did not like Kevin anymore. He redeemed himself by avening his son

I don't understand what the "critics" are saying. This was possibly one of the best movies i have ever seen... my eyes are stil swollen from seeing it last night because i cried so hard (and i'm not the crying type, at all). All the actors/actresses did an AMAZING job! And the movie was realistic, just because most people wouldn't have the guts to do what Kenvin Bacons character does, doesn't mean it's unbelievable. All my friends and i absolutly loved the movie, and were harsh critics.\n"a complete waste of time and money...and we DID walk out"... um you wasted you're money because you walked out of the movie, and didn't let it finish. I wouldn't have been able to leave. The ending is pretty unexpected and i loved how you didn't know what he was going to do next... I highly reccomend that everyone sees it.

Death Sentence really surprised me, when i first saw the previews i thought it was going to be great because Kevin Bacon always does an amazing job in his films, but this movie blew me away, it was even better than what i thought .. this movie is NOT a waste of time, actually when me and my boyfriend went to see it last night we were talking about how we've been waiting so long to see a movie that actually wasn't a waste of time or money, and this was it. Bacons transformation was great and priceless. So to all the people that said it was a waste of time, i'm so glad i bought the tickets AND i'm buying the DVD, you can't go wrong. Anyway if anything Halloween was the dissapointing one, i wouldn't even buy that dvd, nor do i regret even buying the tickets. The director of Saw is amazing and sure does know what he's doing, because this is the only other movie besides the Saws he has made. Go see this movie!

Plenty of action and suspense keep you on the edge of your seat. It really was like one "family" against another and who would be left standing.

The previews for this movie are great. The idea behind the story is great. The follow through was sad and at times humorous where it shouldn't have been funny. The editing in this movie was also not very good.Overall, I give it 1/2 star - thumbs down. If I were alone I would have left the theater. I found out later my friend I was with would have done the same.I am really curious what Kevin Bacon was thinking when he watched it all put together.Save your money and if you really need to see it - rent it

The plot started out seeming realistic then it took a nosedive and made me wonder what in the world made the director think he could pull off something so unrealistic. Kevin Bacon is a great actor but this movie didn't give him a chance to showcase his skills. And Kelly Preston needs to continue her part of being John Travolta's wife.
