The only part that should have been emphasized more is the main character's desperation to leave his life situation and rebuild another life. His actions later are keyed to this desperation.The acting... is excellent and Bogarde is superb. Fassbinder brilliantly creates the moods of the film, and the mental disintegration of the main character. A strange movie of a strange tale, where this strangeness masks the implicit humor of the situation. Mixed feelings about the film is the result - you might see it as great film or not very good at all.. Full Review
