Destination Fame Synopsis & Summary

Six high school graduates struggling to make it in the music industry discover the value of friendship and the power of unity in this uplifting musical drama. Chris, Gabby, Joey, Lisa, Wizzy, and Crystal all have the talent to succeed; they just aren't sure where to start. Chris is the driving force of the group, but ever since his father died he's been struggling to help his mother get out of debt. He doesn't want his friends to feel sorry for him, so he keeps his financial burdens a tightly sealed secret. One day, while performing at a local shopping mall, the group catches the attention of a powerful record label executive. But the label is only interested in Chris, and the executive offers him a lucrative signing deal that would solve all of his family's financial woes. When Chris accepts the deal, his friends think they've been betrayed and decide to start their own record label with the help of neighborhood newcomer Paulie. Later, the record label executives begin to alter Chris' music and appearance, and the disillusioned artist starts to miss his old friends. Everything changes when Joey finds out that the only reason Chris signed the deal was to get his mother out of debt, and when the old group reunites for a special concert, the sparks really begin to fly. - Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide
