I just saw District Nine. It was horrible! There was no character in the story that you cared about. It was 95 percent violent, blow-em-up, shoot-em-up, and characters throwing up. The aliens were awful looking, so much so, you didn't want see them for 2 hours. The plot was poorly done, as there was no viewer connection with the characters. I'd give this movie a big ZERO, not worth anybody's time, that includes making the movie.

Great Sci Fi, Exploers the best and worst of humanity, what we are capable of doing to each other. Not for the Transformers crowd you'd miss the point, save your money.

This move was definitely worth seeing. I saw quite a few idiots leaving 20 minutes in (after listening to their conversations prior to movie's start, they were expecting Transformers part 3 boom bash pow only). If that's your type of movie, you will not enjoy this and should leave. This is for those looking for a plot, looking to enjoy sci fi, a few jokes here and there. For those snapping at people who enjoy a plot and a change of pace for once, in movies, I think you need to check your country's definition of "intellectuals"- it's incorrect in English. lol You need to learn that just because you go to movies to 'turn off your brain' or 'escape from reality' that doesn't translate into 'being entertained' to the rest of us. The movie mirrored some situations happening presently, in real life, and was interesting. Taking some beliefs even practiced in Africa today, made sense if you consider where the film took place and the tone.

Saw "District" yesterday, largely as a result of the good critic's reviews; was not disappointed but now and then amazed. @ the start of the film, w/ the huge space ship hovering (no more, no less, no other action), I did, however, wonder how one million of anything had travelled in that. marie

I was so disappointed in this film. Peter Jackson's work has been extraorindary and this film was a heavy hadded commentary on prejudice in South Africa with a mundane action adventure plotinvolving alien refugees underlying it. I was bored, occasionalloy repulsed, and just never found a way to get into ti.

The worst piece garbage ever produced, NO PLOT, OR STORY. Got my money back and many others left before I did.

This movie was the worst I've ever seen - I asked for my money back. From what I was hearing from other people, no one seemed to like it. I stuck it out, hoping it would get better -- it didn't. It only got worse. Alien Nation, Predator , the Fly; all were plagiarized in this movie. Lousy special effects and acting. I'm a sci-fi fan, but no fan of this one. Awful.

This movie did not hold my interest. I found myself waiting for it to end and bored. The characters had no,,,,no redeeming qualities. The movie did not work. The aliens looked like a dressed up Fly as in the movie The Fly. Can't you come up with something new. Alien nationish in the policies towards aliens and just lousy script writing.

Great movie, takes a little while to get going, but well worth the trouble. One of the few Sifi movies where you cheer for the aliens.

As an ex-South African, I believe I can say confidently that there are no better actors than the suiwer Suid Afrikaaners (the real/pure Afrikaaners)! Van der Merwe is the archtypical brilliant actor of the type that made TV shows like 'Egoli' so wonderful to watch. I take my hat off to Sharlto Copley! I think this movie is a triumph in imagination and acting as well as in crystalizing the 'human' quality of discrimination (apartheid) inherent in everyone. Pity that South Africa had to legislate ******** over ******** still there. Beware!
