Jack Mathews New York Daily News

"Charlie's Angels," "Survivor," "American Gladiators" and "Girls Gone Wild" are just some of the bad influences on Hong Kong action director Corey Yuen's laughably silly adaptation of the video game DOA: Dead or Alive. show more

The action has more to do with digital effects than true martial artistry, and is targeted squarely at adolescent boys too young to rent porn and gamers too lazy to yank their own joysticks. show more

Sure, the dialogue is absolutely atrocious, the acting sucks, Eric Roberts is a co-star, the action is lame and the fighting is boring. But all of this makes for one hilarious viewing experience. DOA is the sort of film you’ll want to watch with a drunken crowd of your friends. show more

If you only ever see one bad movie about warrior chicks who meet on a tropical isle for a fight contest, make it DOA: Dead or Alive. show more

Praise be to director Corey Yuen (The Transporter) for delivering one of the year's purest entertainments -- the best butt-kicking PG-13 bikini jiggle fest since the first Charlie's Angels flick. show more

Jeannette Catsoulis The New York Times

Free of blood, bruises and visible trauma, DOA revels in its fakery. And though the film presents more exuberant female flesh than hiring day at Hooters, it's strictly for titillation. show more

So insubstantial that it practically evaporates on screen. show more

When I first heard about the movie I had a bad feeling from the start. Everything from down right bad director, to the B list cast and the down right bad story. Now people who have played the game know it does not have to build up from, but it has enough to make a passable script. In this case it did not happen. For the most part the charaters did now stay true to there video game counter parts, for example every person had there own fighting style but it didn't show in this movie like Tina her fighting background was pro wrestling but none of that showed. Not a drop kick, body slam, nothing just kung fu based fighting with cheesy and short fights. If your a fan of the game you will be very disappointed. If haven't played the game or know nothing about it then your just going hate this film not that the rest of you people won't. Once Hollywood has made a bad videogame to movie adaptation.
