Plot

An experimental documentary directed by acclaimed Russian filmmaker Alexander Sokurov, Dolce takes its inspiration from the life and death of the widely respected Japanese writer Toshio Shimao. Although Shimao is the ostensible subject of Sokurov's film, much of its emphasis rests on Shimao's widow, Miho, and her loving relationship with her handicapped daughter Maya.
