Plot & Details
False Evidence was a drably produced but cleverly plotted British silent film. The hero is stained with the mark of cowardice; his father had been branded a yellow-belly during a Zulu uprising. When freshly unearthed evidence suggest that Dad was shouldering the blame for his cousin's cowardly behavior, the son tries to clear things up once and for all. With character names like Devereaux and Arbuthnot, False Evidence veers dangerously close to parody. The film was based on an even more densely plotted and populated novel by the prolific E. Phillips Oppenheim.
