Drags and sags at 124 minutes. Luckily, the movie never runs on sitcom empty. How could it, with a terrific cast. show more

For the most part, The Five-Year Engagement has charm and emotion. show more

The story starts out well, then becomes contrived and goes on too long. show more

Sometime around what I guessed to be the one-hour mark in The Five-Year Engagement, I checked my watch and honestly thought the battery had given out. Five years doesn't begin to tell the interminable tale. show more

    Steven Rea Philadelphia Inquirer

It's not impossible to address grown-up issues of commitment, of responsibility, of love, and have some fun, and some profanity, while you're at it. show more

Elizabeth Weitzman New York Daily News

Blunt has never been more relaxed, and she and Segel have a believably warm chemistry. It's also nice to find a romantic comedy with so much respect for both its leads. show more

    John DeFore The Hollywood Reporter

Nicholas Stoller and Jason Segel's latest collaboration offers a more relatable rom-com scenario while generating laughs that should still satisfy "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" fans. show more

The Five-Year Engagement is, for a movie in which a guy fakes an orgasm and (in a separate incident) stuffs a dead deer in his car's sunroof, very grown-up. show more

Feels poignant and real in a way few raunch comedies are. show more

    Michael Phillips Chicago Tribune

As in last year's "Bridesmaids," an authentic, dimensional human element animates the jokes and the characters with whom we spend a couple of highly satisfying hours. show more

I wish someone would explain to me why the critics all kiss Judd Crapanow\' butt. Seriously, his movies are al the worst possible trash. The reviews must be rigged I cannot think of any other possible explanation. They all make tons of money and the reviews are rigged ! The lowest form of funny..15 penis jokes and thats your basic Judd Capanow film !

One of the most draggy movies ever--it seemed like it took five years to drag on.

This movie is not good. There really are not any funny parts. The story is somewhat rambling, but predictable. Jason Sieggel just is not funny. Emily Blunt is not funny either. Worse, in about 50% of her scenes Blunt looks very ordinary and not at all attractive. Siegel\'s other girlfriend likewise has no glamour. Stay away!

This is without a doubt one of the worst movies I have ever seen. It is not only a lousy movie, ********* insulting to anyone who has ties to the midwest. I\'d like to make a movie about a wonderful couple from Michigan who move to the west coast and become changed by all the negative things out there. The mayor of Ann Arbor should be ashamed he let these bottom feeders into our wonderful state to make a movie. We walked out.
