Plot Summary
Talmud scholar Eliezer Shkolnik (Shlomo Bar Aba) has worked in obscurity at Jerusalem's Hebrew University. Eliezer looks down on his son's achievements and pursuit of fame, and so the pair have a rocky relationship. • Israeli writer-director Joseph Cedar imbues his tale of academic maneuvering, misunderstanding and mystery with the zest of passion and the zing of intrigue, It's a vivacious film, having its little fun with suspense-flick conventions (including Amit Poznansky's bouncing score) that build to a climactic finish. show more

  • Footnote does function as a character study, an exceptionally rich one. show more

  • Jewish and academically inclined audiences worldwide will respond to numerous aspects of this unusual drama, although it is paradoxically both too broad and too esoteric for the general art house public. show more

A pretty boring movie overall; although it does explore the human desire for recognition that we all possess. Too bad there is hardly any action though.

Unsatisfying ending. As if they couldnt think of something more interesting so just gave up on it Can\'t imagine 100% viewer review. Several people leaving with me all sort of shaking their heads. We watched this interesting story for this? Bummer.
