What a disapointment on so many levels. I really liked diary of the dead so I bought the dvd for my collection. The characters were completely... evable. The people of plum island seemed like they were from the 1800's all with heavy irish accents, and antique rifles. Romero tried to play this movie off as campy, like the evil dead movies but failed. Not scary, not funny, and completely nonsesical. Full Review

Rick3dnyc your obviously not a zombie fan or a Romero fan so please, do the world a favor and keep your trap shut. I own every single movie directed... by Romero and every american and foreign zombie movie ever produced. Survival wasnt a masterpeice but Ied spend the $15 for it at walmart if I hadnt already gotten my copy free ;) Full Review

You can pay preview it at home for about $7. I watched is a few times over the weekend and thought it was pretty good. Some very funny lines and... ough gore to enjoy. Not his best, but worth the rental. Full Review

"Lousy times make lousy people," someone opines, and maybe that's the point Romero's trying to drive home.Full Review

A polished, fast-moving, entertaining picture whose mainstream success will depend on audiences' tolerance of its tendency to become an abattoir of extreme carnage.Full Review

Survival has lots of those clever kills; Romero just doesn’t provide enough reason for them to be.Full Review

The Onion (A.V. Club)

There are some memorable images, including the sight of a beautiful, horse-riding ''dead head.'' But for much of the movie, Van Sprang's zombie fatigue seems to be an echo of Romero's own.Full Review

Entertainment Weekly

Steeped in fan-pleasing gore but woefully thin on ideas, originality (beyond new zombie-offing methods) or directorial flair.Full Review
