  • Though saddled with hoary jokes, Goldberg at least pumps some funky life into the bland proceedings. show more

  • A wonderful movie, sincere and inspired, with four terrific performances and a story that doesn't let up. The picture has the gentle, nourishing quality of a fairy tale that you want to believe, and the unsoftened impact of gut-level entertainment. [13 July 1990, Daily Datebook, p.E1] show more

  • Goldberg has her best role in a while, especially when she twitches and grunts her way into phony trances. Poor Demi, though, cries enough tears to drench a small drought-stricken state. [13 July 1990, Life, p.4D] show more

In Ghost, a viewer finds Comfort, and a sense of Hope; Molly Jensen(Moore) and her boyfriend Sam Wheat (Swayze) shine in this drama. Sam finds out his friend and co-worker Carl (Goldwyn) scams him. When Carl arranges to rob Sam, it gets fouled up and this thug WIlly kills our innocent hero. Oda Mae (Goldberg) is the local seer who finds a bargain in Sam. She can only hear him, but is riotous in this fim. Sam tries to use Oda & reach a warning to Molly, and the laughs are hysterrical to see. The ending is heartwarming, as Sam is exhonerated and finds his road to the "pearly Gates". WIlly and Carl get their "reward" and are where slimeballs go.
