Plot Summary
When an undersea volcano sends tremors throughout the Atlantic, aquatic creatures come out of hiding. Merchant seamen Joe Ryan (Bill Travers) and partner Sam Slade (William Sylvester) harness the most unusual of the lot, a massive beast that looks like a Tyrannosaurus Rex. The enterprising sailors deliver their quarry to a British circus, but it turns out that the animal is a newborn. And, when his much larger mother arrives in London to rescue her son, the city feels her wrath.

One of the best giant monster movies to come out of the 1950s and 1960s, when such movies were the rage. Also one of the best man-in-suit monster movies -- the suit looks amazingly real. Oscar-winner Tom Howard features excellent split-screen work that makes Gorgo come to life next to his human co-stars. Also has one of the most original endings in giant-monster-movie history -- the monster not only lives in the end, he is rescued by a much bigger parent! Great atmosphere; few films capture urban panic as well as this one. Definitely worth checking out.
