Well what a great subject for a movie. It appeared to have an OK budget, star power all the fixins. It started out promising but quickly faded into a made for television type film. I gave up on it at the 94 minute mark. My European history teacher would roll over in her grave at the liberties taken here.I give it one and one half stars.

Previously Portman/Hershlag would not remove her cloths for entertainment. But now she has decided she must make a sacrafice for the Jewish people. Anti-semitsim must be combated. And so- viola! Her breasts are there for your examination (The crowd goes wild). On examinig her beutiful body in all it's wonder how can gentiles view Jews as strange creatures ever again? However it won't work of course. Too bad.

Wow. Powerful and Emotional film.I loved traveling back in time, I imagine what it must have been like to live during the inquisition, frightful! There are some graphic scenes and Portman does an outstanding job with her characters.Javier is dramatic and mysterious and an incredible actor. I want to see more films with him in them! (reminds me of Robert Downey Jr.)I enjoyed the historical recount, costumes, makeup and scenery but felt Goya's story came second. I was disappointed when it ended.I rate it excellent and would see it again!

It really sucked. It could have been so much more. Javier and Natalie had such chemistry. What a shame.

I enjoyed it also. I enjoyed Natalie, Stellan and Javier and it was a relief to be over ambitious.........and it was an EPIC tale but did not have the budget that that would take - so they made do...and that was refreshing. I loved the art work and although it probably did not work overall - I dug this film. It made me think and reflect and for that I was grateful. Thank god for young actresses like Portman - who are not in jail......but are pros and do good work. A delight....and she was magnificent.

No explosions, no stupid stunts, no incomprehensibly ornate plot.JUst a beautiful movie to look at, extraordinary performances by Portman playing two entirely different women, and even some history! The brutality of the Inquisition and the equally brutal French Revolution are depicted in strong-== very strong!- scenes.Reproductions of Goya's black works are shown behind the credits. I had never seen these pictures before, so I was educated while I was being entertained.Rating: excellent.
