As a proud mother, I was forced to put myself in front of our flat screen and feast my eyes on this sickening movie! Even my daughter hated it! I cannot belive movie creaters even allowed this to hit the big screen! Why did this give me a bad taste in my mouth?? Why were these cheesy lines even read?? In one of the first scenes the magician's assistant Monk ( I think it was Monk ) was talking about his pal Mambo saying, " Monk's the one who says the glass is half-full, but Mambo's the one who probably peed in the glass." I mean maybe that's funny to pre-schoolers but not to older children and adults. As we were exploring the Main Menu we found an alternate ending, hoping that if we played it, it would be better than the whole movie, of course it wasn't! The self-absorbed prince was asked his name by Rick ( the prince's royal dish washer, yea I know ) he replied, " My name is Prince Humperdink but my friends call me Humpy." That type of crude humor DOES NOT go in to PG movies or at least it shouldn't. I hope I left you with something to think about, but if I haven't then you just wasted your time didn't you??? :-D

I normally enjoy going to the movies with my children. This picture was slow and did not even keep the attention of one of my children's friends. I don't recommend watching it in the theater or at home. Save your money.

Seriously, this movie had a lot of potential. It could have been a brilliantly funny skewering of classic fairy tales. But it wasn't. Instead, it's just a bland retelling of Cinderella, from the perspective of the kitchen boy who had a crush on her, with a few generic bad guys thrown in for the heck of it. It would have been better if the real villains from all the other stories that are mentioned had actually showed up. The infighting among the villains alone would have been a riot. As it was, this movie missed the mark by a long way, and was too short to boot. If your kids insist on seeing it, at least wait until it's out on DVD.
