The images of heaven somehow diminish the impact of the boy's experience, perhaps because heaven is just too profound for anyone to film. show more

A wide-eyed 4-year-old makes a fairly convincing case for the existence of an afterlife in Heaven is for Real. But it's Greg Kinnear — with his characteristic affability — that just about seals the deal. show more

This heavy-handed movie is simply a sermon its makers think we all should hear. show more

Wallace made a lot of shrewd decisions to sock this movie home, but he can’t entirely overcome the dramatic thinness of the original material. show more

    Inkoo Kang The Wrap

Wallace smartly leaves room for skeptics of Burpo's account to maintain their doubt; what matters most is that audiences understand the film character's reasons for choosing to believe his son's vision/dream/delirium. show more

    Bill Zwecker Chicago Sun-Times

This company of actors pulls together and delivers a lot of punch to a pedestrian script inspired by quite an amazing tale. show more

    Ty Burr Boston Globe

While Heaven Is for Real asks a lot of questions, it ultimately has no doubt whatsoever about the answers. Take it on faith or not at all. show more

    Lou Lumenick New York Post

A fine cast headed by the underrated Greg Kinnear lifts this year’s third major religious movie, the fact-inspired Heaven Is for Real, somewhat beyond its Hallmark Channel-caliber script and visuals. show more

Liam Lacey The Globe and Mail (Toronto)

The movie is no religious fringe event. It’s from a major studio (Sony), with an Oscar-nominated star (Greg Kinnear), adapted for the screen by "Braveheart" screenwriter Randall Wallace. show more

    Joe Williams St. Louis Post-Dispatch

Written, directed and acted by Hollywood pros, Heaven Is For Real is a polished little movie with a hopeful message, but when it literalizes the divine mysteries, it opens the door to a Doubting Thomas. show more

I loved this movie and believe every word of it. Why are we all going to church reading the bible and praying, if we don't believe in it? It is a REAL place. Christ said " I have gone to prepare a place for you". This little boy saw that place.

Very good movie! It was not a preaching movie, only a wonderful insight on our next life. The movie was based on a true story, and even though it is hard to depict what angels look like, etc., the movie did a good job of it. The little boy was great!

I cant wait to see this movie.. !!! except for one skeptic below each and everyone on this page and the pages before gave thumbs up to it and thats good enough for me.. Plus I too had a out of body experience when I was 14 and I saw myself looking down at the doctors working on me and saw my mom and my brother standing by the bed crying .. So this is one movie that will do it for me.. Thanks to all of you positive people who really believe that there is a Heaven ..

I think this movie, being a true story is wonderful. I just lost my husband in February and it made me feel good that he would be experienceing such a beautiful place.

Very moving story, I saw it as a girl's night out and we were all very deeply touched by this movie. Many thanks to Colton Burpo and his family for being brave enough to stand up for what you really believe.
