This documentary is extremely moving and stimulating. It is on one level a charming story about a couple who accomplished something phenomenal (collecting over 4000 pieces of art on a tiny salary) and it would not have been possible if they had not found each other. In almost every scene the two are holding hands and you know that everything they have done is because of their love. On another level, it shows why they would collect so many pieces of minimalist, dense, almost incomprehensible art. Obsession, yes, plays a part, but they desperately want to know about the artist, their thought process, and their unique vision of the world around them. One artist who was interviewed in the film said that art helps people connect themselves to the objects that surround us--the Vogels love to see different peoples' perspectives, and that's why they did it. This movie was extremely touching and thought-provoking, making me wonder how I see the world, and how I would express it. I highly recommend this movie to artists, philosophers, and anyone else searching for depth in their life.
