I never played the video game nor am I a fan of them- but this movie was very entertaining and I actually enjoyed it- even with all the action it. Usually- I find movies with a lot of action very boring- but the sequencing and direction of this movie played out very well. Its a definite must see for this the holiday season.

Maybe I'm so in love with the game I'm willing to forgive them. It's quite understandable when you think of... For whatever reason... WHY they changed things around.1) They completely wrote off the Ortmeyer project (I think I spelled the name right). 47 wasn't a clone, he was an orphan kidnapped by "The Organization" (it was still the Internation Contract Agency) and I guess everyone trained by "The Organization" was shaved bald with the tattoo. My speculation as to why he wasn't a clone is so they could work the girl into the story. They gave him a bit of humanity. He identifies with the girl a little and shows a shred of compassion, keeping her alive so he can get close to the target. NO ROMANCE! (a few women come onto 47 and he immediately backs off them. The girl he's keeping alive even tries seducing him, and he knocks her out with an injection) That was the thing that worried me the most. They also didn't make him a hero, another thing that worried me. My reasoning for this could be like so.The girl has a connection to the target. How could someone devoid of emotion care enough to keep her alive and get to the target? He would have to be... Human. The game, 47 feels he's not of the world and isn't worthy of forgiveness (at least in hitman 2. By blood money, he seems to be at peace with himself and runs with it). The movie, he's wrestling with his profession and his apparent feelings for the girl (later in the movie, she sleeps with her head resting on his shoulder and he smells her hair. By the end of the movie, he's acting as a guardian angel almost). Thankfully, he stays true to the profession. In fact, there's only 2 things about the 47 potrayed in the movie that differ from the game.a) not a cloneb) see number 32) When 47 communicated with Diana via laptop, her voice was masked by a converter-type thing tha

While this movie was most certainly not the best spy thriller film ever made, or even in the top ten, it did have it's charm. I believe that much of that charm would be lost on anyone who isn't an enthusiast of the video game however. Overall the film lacked in appropriate character background and development, particularly in the case of Agent 47. None of the characters were of a dynamic sort, they all seemed to end the story much the same as they began which left a flat feeling for the conclusion. The presentation however was fast paced and appropriately violent for its roots, which stayed stylistically true. Timothy Olyphant was a suitable match for the role but far from a dead ringer as he is by and large a very animated fellow, not the quiet and unassuming archetype perfect to portray a lifer assassin. All in all I would say that the film was satisfactory but ultimately forgettable.
