Plot Summary
Leopold Socha (Robert Wieckiewicz) is a sewer worker in Nazi-occupied Lvov, Poland. When he finds a group of Jews hiding in the sewers, Leopold agrees to protect them from the Nazis in exchange for money, even though it could mean his death if they are found. In Darkness is an agonizing experience, especially when Jews are publicly humiliated in the streets and a driving rainstorm nearly drowns those cowering in the depths. Holland means to shake you. In Darkness has the power to haunt will haunt your dreams. show more

The film was overly long and compared to other Holocaust films, did not make me feel the intensity of surviving int the sewer...it was good enough but NOT A GREAT FILM.

A certain contender for 2012 award nominations. One of the most intense and emtional films I have ever seen. You literally forget at times you are watching a film as opposed to being there watching in real time. The acting is first rate as is the cinematography. Not only is the story based on real events during the holocaust in Poland but it portrays the human fault line as never witnessed before in similar films.

Excellent movie, but half an hour could have been cut by not filming so much time in the sewers...that part was getting a bit boring...the point had already been well made.
